Getting Shifter SQ sequential mode to work in PC-2, Automobilista 2

Is anyone else having trouble getting these two programs to recognize the SQ when in sequential mode? I am able to select, configure and operate just fine in H-pattern mode, everything works great. And sequential mode works just fine in both Assetto Corsa and rFactor 2. But when I select sequential mode in Project Cars 2 or Automobilista, it seems that neither program can see or talk with the shifter. No matter how many times I re-set button assignments for Shift Up and Shift Down, I don't get any shifter response at all. Since I understand both PC-2 and Automobilista 2 use the Madness Engine, just wondering if there is some common compatibility issue here? Otherwise, how do I trouble-shoot? FYI, the shifter is deployed as a stand-a-lone unit, via Fanatec USB Adapter. Thanks for any help!

Have you mapped the SQ shifter to shifter paddles in the “Settings” tab in the Fanatec driver?
